Frequently Asked Questions
We are sure that you have several questions that you would like answered. Here you will find the frequently asked questions. We hope that we have answered whatever is on your mind but if you have further questions, please ask!
Are you exclusively a Hispanic/Latina sorority?
Sigma Lambda Gamma is a Hispanic/Latina based sorority, which means we were founded on those roots. As you can see in our pictures, we are not all Hispanic or Latina. Sigma Lambda Gamma prides itself on being multicultural.
Do you only accept Latina/Hispanic women?
Nope! We are a sorority based on those values, but are proud to be one of the few sororities to truly be MULTICULTURAL! We accept women of all racial backgrounds and ethnicities and only base your acceptance on your drive and passion to become a sister!
Do you haze?
SLG is a non-hazing sorority. Not only is hazing against the law, but it goes against our morals and ethics. We do not feel that acceptance into a sisterhood requires any kind of hazing. We take hazing seriously and do not condone any kind of hazing to sisters, or any other sororities or fraternities.
As in documentation,
No chapter, colony, student or alumnus shall conduct nor condone hazing activities. Permission or approval by a person being hazed is not a defense. Hazing activities are defined as:
"Any action taken or situation created, intentionally, whether on or off fraternity premises, to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment, harassment, or ridicule. Such activities may include but are not limited to the following: use of alcohol, paddling in any form, creation of excessive fatigue, physical and psychological shocks, quests, treasure hunts, scavenger hunts, road trips or any other such activities carried on outside or inside of the confines of the chapter house; wearing of public apparel which is conspicuous and not normally in good taste, engaging in public stunts and buffoonery, morally degrading or humiliating games and activities, and any other activities which are not consistent with academic achievement, fraternal law, ritual or policy or the regulations and policies of the educational institution or applicable state law."
